The Geologist II manages field investigations, performs complex sampling and data analysis, and contributes to
technical reporting for environmental and geoscience projects. This role is responsible for interpreting site data,
ensuring regulatory compliance, and interacting with clients and stakeholders to meet project goals

Responsibilities

● Plan and execute field investigations with moderate supervision, including environmental sampling and
geological assessments.
● Analyze and interpret field and laboratory data for use in technical deliverables and regulatory reports.
● Lead field crews in soil logging, well installation, and data collection activities.
● Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and laboratories to ensure timely and accurate project execution.
● Prepare complete Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and site characterization reports.
● Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and client-specific protocols.
● Review junior staff field documentation and provide feedback or corrections as needed.
● Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate issues related to schedule, scope, or safety to project management.
● Contribute to proposal writing and scope development.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field; Master’s degree preferred but not required.
● 4+ years of relevant environmental or geotechnical experience.
● Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification required, working toward Professional Geologist (PG) if
applicable by state.
● OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher (if applicable).
● Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, field logging software, and GIS tools preferred.
● Working knowledge of environmental regulations, remediation strategies, and site investigation
techniques.
● Experience leading field crews and completing Phase I/II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, and data
interpretation.
● Demonstrated ability to prepare regulatory reports and coordinate with subcontractors and clients.
● Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field
    conditions, including:
    • Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps,
      grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such
      as sand, brush, and debris.
    • Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.
    • Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse
      weather conditions.
  • The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:
    • Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.
    • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.
    • Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.
    • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for
      fieldwork and inspections.
    • Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project
      teams.
    • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and
      ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl,
      kneel and sit)
